My name is Frank Vella and I have been dealing with birds since 1960.
I am a licensed Bird Trapper and Dealer. Western Garden Birds has now been opened in Hoppers Crossing since August 2007. It has been a registered business since 1997.
I have had a passion for birds since I was a little kid. When I first came to Australia I used to breed budgies as a hobby to make a little pocket money on weekends, I did that for quite a few years, then slowly got into canaries and goldfinches and bred a few mules. I then got my trappers license and started trapping on the weekend. I was then selling cocky’s, galah’s and corella’s around Australia. I started just selling birds from home for a really long time, my hobby slowly turned into a full time job. I have never looked back my hobby is my job now and it is also my passion.
My Daughter Tania runs the day to day business of the shop in Hoppers Crossing, she has grown to really love birds and has acquired a lot of knowledge from me and many breeders that come through the shop.
We are here to help our customers any way we can, so feel free to call or come into the shop and we’ll try our very best to help you out.
